Heat warning issued for Prince Albert area
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for most of the province.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning as of 3:38 p.m. Wednesday for much of the province, including the Prince Albert and Waskesiu areas.

A period of maximum daily temperatures near 29 degrees or above and overlight low temperatures near 14 degrees or above continues. The heat is expected to abate somewwhat Saturday as a cold front comes through.

With the humidity, Thursday and Friday’s highs are predicted to be 33 and 35 degrees, respectively. While it is expected to be slightly cooler over the weekend, the early forecast into next week is also showing sweltering temperatures.

Environment Canada is warning residents to watch for the effects of heat illness, including swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Symptoms of heat illness include dizziness/fainting, nausea/vomiting, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst and devreased urnation with unusually dark urine. .

Older family, friends and neighbours should be checked on to ensure they are cool and drinking water.
