An escape from reality

Mission Escape, located at Price Breakers, becomes Prince Albert’s first escape room to open

Chelsea Reid is an escape room fan.

The local business owner started going to escape rooms last year. Around Christmas, she thought she should open one here in Prince Albert.

The owner and general manager of Price Breakers, Reid set off expanding her business to include an escape room. The new business had a soft launch over the weekend, making Mission: Escape the first escape room to open in Prince Albert.

“It’s always nice to have something to do in town. We started going to escape rooms and saw how fun it could be,” Reid said.

She described the escape room experience as live, interactive entertainment.

“If you’ve played video games or watched the movies, I would say think like that, but in real life,” she explained.

“You get to be in the movie. You’re the star.”

Mission: Escape joins District 8 Escape as P.A.’s first two businesses to embrace the trend, which has seen escape rooms open across Canada. The experience is ideal for a night out, a date night or even team building for businesses.

But even though there’s some local competition, Reid isn’t worried.

“We can have more,” she said. “Once you do the room, you’re not likely going to do it again.”

Mission: Escape is starting with one room, Tony’s Bistro, themed after an Italian mobster movie.
