A man who escaped from RCMP custody may be in Prince Albert.

Gavin Patrick Montgrand, 19, escaped from the Turnor Lake RCMP detachment Tuesday at about 1:20 p.m., the RCMP reported in a press release. Police attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.

Turnor Lake is located about 400 km northwest of Prince Albert, and just east of La Loche.

The RCMP said that Montgrand could be in the Saskatoon or Prince Albert area. There is a warrant out for his arrest.

Montgrand is described as a 6-foot-tall Indigenous man with medium complexion and short dark hair. He has a recent scar with stitches on the right side of his face. He was last seen wearing black jeans, a black sweater and black high top running shoes, and was also reportedly carrying a bag.

RCMP do not believe Montgrand poses a threat to the general public, but warn that he should not be approached.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Turnor Lake RCMP at 1-306-894-4420, their nearest police service, 310-RCMP (7267) or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
