Moving and grooving

Prince Albert musician Nathan Thoen returns for first hometown show since last winter

This summer Carlton Comprehensive High School alumnus Nathan Thoen was invited to address the school’s graduating class and give them some advice he wish he had at their age: “dive in” and “follow a passion.”

That’s the statement the Prince Albert-born singer hopes to make when his Saskatoon-based band Bombargo — Thoen, guitarist Spencer Chilliak, drummer Phil Kashap and bassist Graham Tilsley — release their debut full-length album in the coming year.

“If something’s pulling you towards doing something, you’ve got to follow that. So that would be our overarching theme,” he said.

“But also to dance and to move and groove and feel the funky tunes.”
