Police have laid charges after a 12-year-old boy was sprayed with bear mace in an incident on Sunday.

A 22-year-old man faces two charges in connection with the incident, including assault with a weapon. He made his first court appearance on Monday. Police say the suspect and victim are known to each other.

The incident occurred on the 600 block of Fourth Avenue East are around 2:30 p.m. Parkland ambulance treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries.

The call was one of 294 received by police over the weekend. The majority were for disturbances and intoxicated persons.

Police made 42 arrests during that period.

Charges laid after woman chased by attacker with machete

Police have laid charges after reports that a man chased a woman with a machete on the 1000 block of 13th Street West.

Officers were called to the scene at around at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. They arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the incident. He faces four charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats. He made his first court appearance on Monday.

Police say the suspect and the victim are known to each other.

Police arrest two following vehicle theft on Sunday

Charges have been laid after an investigation into a vehicle theft that occurred on Sunday.

According to police, a woman and some friends were sitting inside the vehicle at around 6:30 p.m. when they were approached by a group of people who threatened them and took the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered, and police arrested two female suspects soon afterwards.

The incident occurred on the 500 block of Ninth Street East.
