Police seek suspect after alleged child luring in La Ronge

Police are investigating an attempted child luring, after a man allegedly threatened a 10-year-old child.

According to an RCMP press release, the man approached the child on Struder Street in La Ronge Wednesday. He attempted to lure the 10 year old into his vehicle using threats. The child ran away and the man drove off.

La Ronge RCMP responded to a complaint about the incident at 4 p.m. The incident is still under investigation and police have stepped up their patrols “at key times when children are active in the community.”

They are asking the public to assist in identifying the man. They were told that he was driving an older-model, light-blue, Ford half-tonne truck with rust around the wheels. The truck may have had a broken passenger side window with tape and plastic over it. The truck had an Alberta license plate, police reported.

The suspect is described as an Aboriginal man in his 30s with dark hair in a short buzz cut, dark eyes. He was seen wearing a black muscle shirt, black shorts, sunglasses and running shoes. According to the description, he has a number of tattoos, including a teardrop on his left eye and a skull on his left arm.
