Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant arrested in Saskatoon

A man wanted by Prince Albert police on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested in Saskatoon.

Joseph Curtis Madden, 26, will make his first court appearance in Prince Albert on Monday. Madden was arrested at a residence in the 1300 Block of Main Street in Saskatoon Friday evening.

Madden faces second degree murder charges in connection with the death of 21-year-old Madison Rene Bird-Simaganis.

Prince Albert police thanked their agency partners, including the Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatoon RCMP, for their assistance with the arrest.

Bird-Simaganis died on Jan. 10 shortly after officers stopped a vehicle he was in and found him inside suffering from serious- life-threatening injuries. His death is considered Prince Albert’s first homicide of 2021.
