RCMP issue warrant for man charged in assault case in Big River First Nation

RCMP have asked for the public’s help in locating a 22-year-old man wanted in connection with a sexual assault reported in Big River First Nation.

Skylar Blaze Lachance of Big River First Nation faces three charges, including sexual assault and sexual assault causing bodily harm. RCMP have not been able to confirm his location, but they say Lachance may be in Big River First Nation or Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. Anyone who sees him is asked to call police immediately at 306-310-RCMP, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred just before midnight on Jan. 18 in Big River First Nation. Police say a woman was assaulted at a residence in the community. The victim called police after her attacker fled the scene.

She was treated by medical personnel for injuries sustained during the attack. No other information has been released.
