P.A. Minor Football to receive grant from Roughriders, welcome Rider players to weekend camp
Prince Albert Minor Football (PAMF) has received a “fairly significant” grant from the Saskatchewan Roughriders Grey Cup Legacy Project that will go towards the construction of a new chageroom facility at Prime Ministers Park.
The exact sum will be announced when members of the Roughriders and Gainer the Gopher visit the Alfred Jenkins Field House on Saturday for a practise session with players from the Northern Saskatchewan Football and PAMF.
PAMF president Bob Coffin said he applied for the grant last fall. He said the new facility, which will include office space and chagerooms with adjustable sliding wall panels, will be able to serve different functions for different sports. He estimates construction will be complete by 2019.
“When we have teams come in from Saskatoon, instead of trying to get into Carlton, who have been great, to change there in a classroom or something, there will be an actual changeroom there,” Coffin said.
Coffin added that the Roughriders will film Saturday’s event to put together a presentation video to publicize the Grey Cup Legacy Project and inform other provincial football organizations how to apply for a grant and the kinds of projects for which the funding can be allocated.
