Crusaders senior girls’ finish sixth in 5A Hoopla tourney

The Carlton Crusaders senior girls’ basketball team took part in another close game Saturday as they wrapped up their 2018-19 season.

After falling behind by nine points at halftime, the Crusaders clawed their way back over the last two quarters but dropped a 82-79 decision to the Regina O’Neill Titans in the 5A girls’ Consolation Final at Hoopla in Saskatoon.

Gage Grassick led the Crusaders in scoring for the third straight contest with 37 points, while Chantel Sullivan put home 30 points for the Titans.

Saturday’s game was the final high school contest for Hannah Walker and Megan Tomyn, who will be graduating from Carlton later this year.

The Regina LeBoldus Golden Suns took home their second straight 5A girls’ Hoopla title on Saturday as they picked up a 56-49 win over the Saskatoon Centennial Chargers.

The rest of the provincial finals were won by the following schools:

  • 5A Boys: Saskatoon Holy Cross over Regina LeBoldus
  • 4A Boys: Moose Jaw Central over Weyburn
  • 4A Girls: North Battleford Comprehensive over Melfort
  • 3A Girls: Briercrest (Caronport) over Lumsden
  • 3A Boys: Regina Christian over Unity
  • 2A Girls: Regina Harvest City over Canora
  • 2A Boys: St. Brieux over Norquay
  • 1A Girls: Middle Lake over Gladmar
  • 1A Boys: Lake Lenore over Davidson
