The province of Saskatchewan reported two deaths related to COVID-19 on Friday
There was one death reported in the 40 to 49 age group in Saskatoon and one in the 80 plus age group in the Central East.
This followed no deaths being reported on Thursday.
The number of deaths in the province has grown to 350.
There were 195 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the province on Friday.
The North Central zone, which includes Prince Albert, reported 19 new cases.
North Central 2, which is Prince Albert, has 53 active cases.
North Central 1, which includes communities such as Christopher Lake, Candle Lake and Meath Park, has 43 active cases and North Central 3 has 60 active cases.
There are currently 182 people in hospital overall in the province. Of the 159 reported as receiving in patient care there are 20 in North Central. Of the 23 people reported as being in intensive care there is one in North Central.
The current seven-day average is 170, or 13.9 cases per 100,000 population.
Of the 26,145 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 1,900 are considered active.
The recovered number now sits at 23,895 after 246 more recoveries were reported.
The total numbers of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 26,145 of those 6,852 cases are from the North area (2,726 North West, 3,056 North Central and 1,070 North East).
There were 525 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered yesterday in Saskatchewan bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 46,788. With this, 101 per cent of the doses received have been administered to date. The overage is due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received.
There were 171 doses administered in the North Central zone yesterday. Other zones where vaccines were administered included the adjacent North East zone, North West, Far North Central, Far North East and Far North West.
Saskatchewan will receive less Moderna vaccine than originally expected for the week of Feb. 22. In light of this reduction, the Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority will need to review distribution plans.
There were 2,694 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Feb. 6.
As of today there have been 528,916 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan.
Prince Albert drive thru testing closed for weekend due to weather
The SHA has extended the temporary closure our drive-thru COVID-19 test site for the weekend Friday, Feb. 12. The centre is located at The Cone Shop Car Wash at 890 6th Ave. East in Prince Albert. “This is due to the continuing extreme cold currently being experienced in the Prince Albert area,” the release said.
It is anticipated that the site will return to regular operations on Monday, Feb. 15 at 8 a.m., people were reminded to continue to watch for updates.
Individuals seeking COVID-19 testing are reminded to call 811 for a referral to the testing and assessment centre.
Province reminds people to be responsible on Family Day weekend
In an addition the province said that keeping COVID-19 transmission low means building best public health practices into any plans during the Family Day weekend.
“Take the opportunity to get outdoors for your physical and mental health, even if it means adding an extra layer of long underwear,” the release said.
They reminded people to stay safe this Family Day weekend by keeping plans within the immediate household.
“If you are headed outdoors, you may gather in groups of 10 with two metres of physical distancing between household groups. Food should not be shared between non-household members,”
They reminded people to stay close to home as non-essential travel is not recommended at this time.
“Travel outside our borders means you will be subject to the public health requirements for that jurisdiction, including mandatory quarantine upon return from any international destination.”
