Police seized thousands of dollars worth of cocaine on Wednesday, after a SWAT team assisted in a search of an East Hill residence.
The Prince Albert Police Service reported that two people were arrested following the search, which also turned up multiple cell phones, drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash.
Officers seized 125 grams of cocaine in total, police reported. With street price estimates varying between $60 and $100 per gram, that could be anywhere from $7,500 to $12,500 worth of cocaine at retail. In bulk, however, that quantity would sell for substantially less.
The two accused, a 41-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman from Prince Albert, are both charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime. The man is also facing an addition charge of trafficking in a controlled substance.
The arrests followed an investigation by the Integrated Street Enforcement Team, a joint unit combining officers from the RCMP and Prince Albert Police Service to go after gangs and drugs.
