RCMP lay second-degree murder charge in death of La Loche man

A 23-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to a death on Saturday morning in La Loche.

Around 6:33 a.m., La Loche RCMP responded to a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound outside of a residence.

When officers arrived at the scene, he was deceased.

They seized a firearm believed to be used in the incident when they took a suspect into custody.

The RCMP Major Crime Unit North, La Loche RCMP, North Battleford Forensic Identification Section, Meadow Lake Police Dog Service and the Traffic Reconstruction Unit were all involved in the investigation.

The accused is Tristin Janvier of La Loche, who appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court by video on Monday morning.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Lucas Lemaigre, also from La Loche.
