The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) had 255 calls for service between Friday night and Monday morning and made 41 arrests. They included weapons offences and a break-and-enter.
Cab driver threatened with knife
A 28-year-old is facing charges in Prince Albert court on Monday after threatening a cab driver.
At approximately 8:09 a.m. on Saturday, police were dispatched to the 2800 block of 6th Avenue East.
A news release said the man demanded money from the driver using a knife and then fled.
He was allegedly intoxicated.
They located the suspect walking eastbound on 29th Street East and arrested him, seizing a large knife.
The accused is from Wollaston Lake and is charged with stealing money while armed with a weapon, possession of a knife for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, not being authorized to carry a concealed weapon, knowingly uttering or causing threat to an officer causing bodily harm and breach of recognizance to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Man tries to escape from police with weapons
A Prince Albert man has been arrested and charged for illegally carrying weapons and attempting to flee from police.
Officers responded to a call from a business on the 3200 block of 6th Avenue East–near Carnival Bingo–at about 1:49 a.m. on Sunday.
They found the suspect outside of the business, but the 22-year-old attempted to flee.
After following and arresting him on Southwood Drive, police found a meat cleaver and a screwdriver.
He’s charged with possession of a weapon (meat cleaver) for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, not being authorized under the firearms act to carry a concealed weapon (a meat cleaver and a screwdriver) and resisting a peace officer engaged in the lawful execution of his duty by not complying with officer commands and running away from police.
He answered to these charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
Police catch man for break-and-enter and stolen property
Prince Albert police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man for trying to break into a shed and stealing a truck.
At about 8:44 a.m. on Sunday, officers went to the 700 block of 12th Street West.
They found a damaged shed, but no suspect. The man was not successful in breaking into the shed.
However, they found him hiding in an apartment porch on the 400 block of River Street West, where he was arrested.
Police found vehicle keys on him, which upon further investigation were found to belong to a truck that was stolen in Nipawin.
It had already been recovered and was in the City of Prince Albert compound.
The accused, who is from Red Earth, is charged with break-and-enter of a shed, obstruction of a peace officer in the lawful execution of his duty by providing a false name, possession of stolen property not exceeding $5,000 and being bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
He faced these charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
