RCMP lay aggravated assault charges

On Sunday morning around 12:40 a.m., North Battleford RCMP and EMS responded to a complaint of an assault at a residence at Saulteaux First Nation.

A 28-year-old male was located inside the residence and transported to hospital with serious injuries. As a result of initial investigation, RCMP Major Crime Unit North were called in.

Later the same day 19-year-old Mitchell Night of Saulteaux First Nation was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault, section 268 of the Criminal Code in relation to the above complaint.

Night made his first court appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday, he will next appear in court via video at 11:00 a.m. on May 19.
