Saskatchewan health officials reported seven more patients have died after testing positive for COVID-19, four of which were in the North Central area.
Three of those North Central patients were at least 80 years of age or over. The other was in their 70s. No other details were released.
Two other deaths were recorded in Regina, while the other was in the South East Zone. A total of 191 Saskatchewan residents have died after testing positive for the virus.
There are 332 new COVID-19 cases across the province, 18 of which are in the North Central region. Nine of those cases were in Prince Albert, six were in North Central Zone 1 and three were in North Central Zone 3.
Another 74 North Central patients have recovered from the virus. There are now 527 cases active in the area, 275 of which are in Prince Albert. North Central has the second highest active case total in the province. Saskatoon has the most with 568. Regina is third highest with 513.
The three far north zones reported a combined 34 new cases on Saturday. The Far North East had the most with 17, followed by the Far North West with nine and Far North Central with eight.
The Far North East has the fourth highest active case total in the province with 395. Far North Central has the second lowest total with 31 active cases. The Far North West has 185–the seventh highest total in Saskatchewan.
The North East region reported 30 new cases on Saturday. All but two of those cases were in North East Zone 1, which includes Nipawin and the northern parts of the region. North East Zone 2, which includes Melfort, and North East Zone 3, which includes Tisdale, reported one new case each. The North East now has 100 active cases.
As of Jan. 9, healthcare workers have administered 7,000 vaccine doses, including 386 Pfizer doses in Prince Albert. A total of 493 doses of the Moderna vaccine have been administered in the Far North East. Another 482 have been administered in the Far North West and 65 have been administered in Far North Central.
Saskatchewan has 3,186 active COVID-19 cases across the province, including 179 patients who are in hospital with the virus. Saskatoon has the highest number of hospitalized patients with 46, followed by Regina with 38 and North Central with 29.
Thirty patients are in intensive care, including five in North Central.
