The Prince Albert Country Music Association (PACMA) is hosting a Gospel Show on Sunday at the Prince Albert Heritage Centre.

The afternoon performance will feature many well-known PACMA members.

President Les Breiter said they didn’t host the event for a few years during and after COVID. However, the event returned to its traditional spring date last year at the Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly, and returns again this year at the Seniors Heritage Centre.

“This year it didn’t work out to have it there (at Crossroads), so Larry Krause is the producer of the show and we left it up to him,” Breiter explained.

There was also a possibility of it being held at the Mahon Theatre but member Evan Swalm does sound at the Heritage Centre, and the event came together from there.

“I was kind of surprised when he said the Heritage Centre,” Breiter said. “Evan does the sound now at the Heritage Centre and so I think they must have got together, worked it out.”

Breiter said people can expect what they usually get at a Gospel Show. Performers include John Quinn, Dave Arsenault, Claire Schira, Larry Krause, Lauraine Toth, Dan Webb, Linda Bjork, Carmen Robertson, Janice Trudel and Karen Beauschesne.

“The only criteria to get into our shows basically is to be a member for at least two months before a show. And membership in PA Country Music Association is only $20 a year, so it’s very basic. We like people to come to the meetings, but of course not everybody can,” Breiter explained.

The Gospel Show is at 2:30 p.m. on April 28 at the Prince Albert Heritage Centre, the cost is $15 for adults and 12 and under free.

Breiter said it was nice to have a Gospel Show on a Sunday.

“We would prefer to have had it at a church again, but for whatever reason the Heritage Centre is set up.”

Breiter said that several years ago there was a Gospel Show at the Heritage Centre.

“It’s a good location and all that,” he added.

Breiter said that the Country Music Association always appreciates everyone’s support.

Breiter said that the PACMA is also planning to set up a stage for before and after the Prince Albert Exhibition Parade this year, but plans have not been confirmed.

“We’re still working on that that we haven’t got permission from the city,” Breiter said.
