A Nipawin man has been charged with uttering threats against the prime minister and parliament.
According to a press release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, on Feb. 12, David Petersen of Nipawin allegedly called a Canadian government agency and said he would shoot Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and blow up the parliament buildings.
The RCMP did not say which agency Petersen, 52, allegedly made the statements to.
His alleged comments were reported to the Nipawin RCMP.
On Feb. 27, RCMP officers from Nipawin arrested Petersen. There has been no contact between Petersen and the prime minister. Petersen is due in court on March 6 in Nipawin.
The Saskatchewan RCMP National Security Enforcement Section is continuing its investigation.
