Prince Albert police have charged one man in connection to two armed robberies in the city.

Early Saturday morning, police responded to a business on the 2600 block of Second Avenue West, which is near the Husky gas station, for a report of a robbery in progress.

While officers were on their way, they noticed a speeding white Tundra truck which matched the description of a vehicle that was recently reported as stolen.

The driver did not stop, resulting in a chase that ended when the driver drove into a small pond.

A 31-year-old man is facing charges that include pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, robbery, possession of stolen property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in relation to this incident.

The same suspect is facing charges in relation to an armed robbery on Nov. 3. Two people reportedly stole cigarettes, lottery tickets and an unknown amount of cash from a business on the 400 block of 15th Street East, which is near the Shell gas station.

The man is charged with robbery of a firearm, wearing a face mask with intent to commit an indictable offence and breach of a court order in connection to this particular robbery.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
