Five people charged after weapons and drug investigation

Three men and two women have been charged following a weapons and drug investigation, according to police.

The five people were charged by members of the Street Enforcement Team and the Integrated Crime Reduction Team.

With the help of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and Canine Unit, investigators completed a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of 7th Street East on Friday afternoon.

Police seized a number of items in the search, including body armour, a rifle, a shotgun, numerous rounds of ammunition, a starter pistol, and various amounts of illegal drugs including crack cocaine and methamphetamine.

Two men, 25, are facing a variety of drugs and weapons charges in relation to this investigation.

Two women and another man are charged with possession of a controlled substance.
