A 25-year-old woman in serious but stable condition has been transferred to hospital in Saskatoon after being found on the river ice below the train bridge just after 4 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Paramedics with Parkland Ambulance were called to the scene and discovered two women, both 25, who were suffering from hypothermia and other injuries. Parkland Ambulance says they are unsure how the women arrived in the location or how they were injured.
The other 25-year-old woman was treated for her injuries and has since been released from hospital.
The incident was one of the few to occur over New Year’s. Parkland Ambulance reported a few minor instances of hypothermia due to the cold weather, but otherwise called it “an average New Year’s Eve” with no major incidents other than the one mentioned above.
