Prince Albert poets prepare for elaborate Valentine’s Eve performance
Prince Albert’s Sans Nom poetry group is celebrating Valentine’s Day with heart and humour.
“We were talking about doing a community reading and talking about getting the attention of more people than we always do,” poet Veryl Coghill said.
In the end the poets devised their most elaborate reading event in years: Here Come the Brides: The Truth about Love, Sex and Marital Wrecks, to be held at the Prince Albert Arts Centre on Feb. 13 — Valentine’s Day Eve. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Nest, a Canadian Mental Health Association drop–in centre in downtown P.A.
Founding member Lynda Monahan said the idea originated “out of our wild, wacky imaginations,” and called it “a celebration of love in it’s many forms.”
“There’s a lot to said around brides,” she said.
“I think we all have poems that can relate to the theme, in some way, of relationships.”
