Sask. sees 10 new COVID-19 cases and 12 more recoveries on Tuesday

No new deaths have been reported.

The provincial government reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 more recoveries on Tuesday.

Eight of the new cases are located in the Saskatoon area and two are in the Central East area.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there have been 17 cases linked to a social gathering in Saskatoon that was initially reported on Sept. 13.

Gatherings, whether indoor or outdoor, are restricted to 30 people except for worship services. Sizes should be smaller if people within one household can’t maintain a two-metre distance between each other.

The government reminded residents that it’s also important to not serve food buffet-style. One person should handle the preparation of food or drink.

The province said contact tracing is underway in relation to the gathering, and that more cases from the gathering are likely to arise.

Saskatchewan has seen 1,741 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, 101 of which are considered active. So far, 1,616 people have recovered.

Investigations thus far have found that 33 of the 101 active cases are located in communal living settings.

Four people with COVID-19 are hospitalized, all receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon.

Health care workers in Saskatchewan have performed 161,933 COVID‐19 tests as of Tuesday afternoon. That’s an increase of 1,658 from Monday.
