The Pierceland RCMP are searching for four women in a pick-up truck who fled from police during a Wednesday morning pursuit on Big Island Cree Territory.

Police say the four women may be armed. Residents should avoid approaching the vehicle if they see it, and instead report the location by calling 310-RCMP.

The vehicle is described as a silver, 2010 GMC crew cab with a licence plate ending in ‘WK’. Police do not know the provincial issuer of the license plate.

The women are wanted in connection with an investigation that began at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday when RCMP officers received reports of a shot fired from a vehicle travelling south on an access road in Big Island Cree Territory.

Police say the shots came from the silver pick-up, which was trailing another vehicle at the time. Officers began patrolling the community and discovered the truck at 2:15 a.m. in the Big Island Cree Territory town site.

The driver of the truck failed to stop at an RCMP traffic stop, and instead lead officers on a chase on Hwy 55 towards the Alberta border. RCMP officers discontinued the pursuit after the truck’s occupants began tossing items out the window, endangering other drivers on the road.

Pierceland RCMP have notified the Alberta RCMP of the incident. Officers continue to patrol the area, speak to witnesses, and follow-up on information that could help locate the vehicle and the suspects involved.
