Members of the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) assisted Parkland Ambulance in a mental health call on Friday morning.

A news release said a 29-year-old man was in possession of edged weapons when police arrived at an apartment building on the 1100 block of Branion Drive.

Officers tried to de-escalate the situation, but were unsuccessful. They used a conducted energy device (CED) to safely take him into custody and transport him to the hospital.

The release said the police are not expecting to lay charges in relation to this incident.
