Police issue arrest warrants for suspects of assault, robbery

The Prince Albert Police Service responded to 288 calls for service over the weekend, including an assault and a robbery. The majority of their calls were for intoxication, disturbances and evictions.

Assault

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 33-year-old man in connection with a weekend assault.

A news release said at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, the accused assaulted a 38-year-old woman, who was taken to hospital with stab wounds on her shoulder.

The man fled from police and is charged with assault with a weapon and overcoming resistance by choking.

Police said the suspect and victim know each other.

Robbery

Police have also issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in connection to a robbery of a cab driver on Friday.

Officers responded to the call just before 5:30 p.m., where the cab driver reported he was threatened by a man with a gun.

No one was injured, although the suspect fled with with a small amount of cash and a cell phone.

The accused is facing charges of robbery with a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of court orders.
