Outlaws and Predators back in action this weekend

After taking the Victoria Day weekend off, the Prince Albert Outlaws and Prince Albert Predators are getting set to return to Prairie Gold Lacrosse League senior and junior division action in the coming days.

The Outlaws will be on the road Friday to take on the Saskatoon Swat before a Sunday afternoon meeting with the Moose Jaw Chiefs.

Meanwhile, the Predators will be back at the Kinsmen Arena for a 6 p.m. contest with the Swift Current Wolverines Saturday and a 1 p.m. matchup with the Regina Rifles Sunday.

The Predators, who are the defending junior division champions, lead the six-team loop with a 4-0-1 record.

Following a three-game homestand to kick off the campaign, the Predators edged the Wolverines 9-7 on Saturday, May 11, in Swift Current and followed that up with a 8-5 Mother’s Day triumph against the Rifles in Regina.

The Predators have the three top scorers in the league at the moment, with Tanner Vancoughnett leading the way with 27 points in five games.

Kale Amundrud has 20 points and Dillan Cochrane has 18 points so far this year.

Meanwhile, the Outlaws are 1-2 to start the campaign and in a four-way tie for fourth in the senior division, with their most recent contest being a 23-6 road defeat to the Saskatoon Brewers last Wednesday night.

After opening up the senior division campaign with a 10-4 home loss to the Regina Heat to on Saturday, May 11, the Chiefs bounced back the following day with an 13-6 victory over the Estevan Impact.

Their next home games will be on May 31 and June 1 against the Saskatoon Steelers and the Swat.
