Two organizations in Melfort are teaming up to deliver a fundraising event.
The North East SPCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Melfort are hosting Oktoberfest on the 27th, which includes an authentic German meal, cocktails, live music by Major Distraction, games, a silent auction and 50/50.
The event will be at the Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort with cocktail hour starting at 5:30 p.m. and supper at 6:30 p.m.
Programs Coordinator for the North East SPCA, Kirby Hardwick, said for them, the money will go towards kickstarting their shelter, including operations, building and event planning.
She said they’re hoping to have the shelter framed before winter.
“We want people to come out to Oktoberfest expecting to have a good time, but all the while helping to support two organizations that are of utmost importance,” she said.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Melfort provides a volunteer to a child as a mentor to help them overcome societal barriers like violence, poor mental health and poverty.
Tickets cost $55 and are available at www.eventbrite.ca.
