A Prince Albert lifeguard will be learning from colleagues around the world later this year.

Lauren Haubrich was selected to attend the World Drowning Prevention Emerging Leaders Workshop.

She was selected by the Royal Life Saving Society to attend the workshop, which is part of the RLSS World Conference on Drowning Prevention, set for Vancouver from Oct. 15-22. The previous workshop was held in 2015 in Malaysia featuring 36 attendees from 17 countries, including two Canadians.

Interested applicants had to apply. Those who have “demonstrated commitment to drowning prevention and who are or have the potential to be a drowning prevention leader in their country or community” were selected, according to a city press release.

“The city is proud to have Lauren selected as one of a few in the world to attend this conference,” said Derek Blais, recreation manager.
