Sheldon Novak from Prince Albert’s Klassic Kruizers Kar Klub says their upcoming car show celebrates high school dreams becoming reality.

The 21st annual Kruize Night takes place on Saturday at the Northern Light Casino from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“That’s probably the biggest thing—that everybody does come to remember when they were in high school and they saw these certain cars that were driving around new, but they couldn’t afford them and now they can,” said Novak.

“What they’ve done in later years, they’ve bought the car of their dreams, their high school dreams, and they fixed them up and they drive them around. And this goes all throughout North America because this is just a North American phenomena.”

They’re expecting about 350 cars and between 5,000 and 6,000 people to attend.

Novak said the event is free, both for participants and spectators. Those who register their cars also receive free T-shirts, dash plaques and a chance to win a barbecue.

Two rock bands will be filling the Casino with music for almost the entire event—Hot Rod Hullabaloo and Flashback—and there will also be a food booth.

Novak explained that every year they bring in special event vehicles.

This year will feature the Boss Blue Team, who are bringing two pulling tractors with 10,000 horsepower.

“They pull weights down the strip to see how far they can go, but this is not the normal tractor,” he said. “It’s loud and it’s mean and it’s a crowd pleaser.”

He added they’re also bringing in a dragster from Saskatoon.

The event has grown so much over the years they’re hosting it on a Saturday, whereas previously it was on a Friday evening.

The club has grown to about 45 members since it was established in 1988. For more information on their events, visit the Klassic Kruizers Kar Klub Facebook page.
