Tuffs paces Super Senior event after first round

An even-par round of 70 has put Doug Kozak in first place after the opening round of the Fountain Tire Senior Men’s Lobstick tournament at the Waskesiu Golf Course on Tuesday.

Kozak holds a one-shot advantage over Martin Ring and has a three-shot edge over Cliff Selander.

Tony Turay is in fourth place, while reigning provincial senior champion Rick Hallberg is tied for fifth with Brad Phelps, who was the runner-up in the Senior Men’s Lobstick and the Lobstick tournaments last September.

Defending champion Warren Gnam was in a tie for 27th spot heading into Wednesday’s second round.

Meanwhile, the top spot in the super senior event belongs to 2019 winner Gary Tuffs as his four-over par round of 74 put him one stroke ahead of Bill Lewis and Jim Scissons.

Herb Pinder Jr. was in fourth place following the first round, with Doug Anderson and Doug Piper in a tie for fifth.

The three-run tournament runs through Thursday evening.
