Prince Albert Predators look to their veterans as 2017 lacrosse season approaches

The Prince Albert Predators Junior ‘B’ lacrosse team has announced its roster for the 2017 Prairie Gold Lacrosse League (PGLL) season and this year’s group will feature many familiar faces.

Of the 20 Predators players — 18 runners and two goalies — nine played on last year’s squad and two served as affiliated players. Among the returnees are five 2017 team award winners: Rookie of the Year Danny Martin, Best Defensive Player Jordan McDougall, Inspirational Player Brody Low, Spirit Award winner Carson Remy and Most Loose Balls Award winner Brendan Beaulac.

Predators coach Tyson Fetch said it was important to have a core group of veteran players back on the team.

“They understand the game, they understand what it takes to play at this level, they’re bigger, they’re older, they’re stronger and they’re a little smarter, usually, so they can add some wisdom to the dressing room as well,” Fetch said.

“There are some real leaders in there returning so that’s going to be good.”
