Inmate escapes minimum-security unit

James Katsiris escaped from the minimum-security unit of Saskatchewan Penitentiary on Nov. 24. Submitted.

Police are after a 36-year-old man who was not accounted for during an evening count of the minimum-security unit at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary Sunday night.

James Fred Katsiris is 5-10, 168 lbs. He has a medium complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He is serving a sentence of two years, two months and three days for failing to comply with a recognizance, possession property obtained by crime, trafficking property obtained by crime, trafficking drugs and possession drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Anyone who has information about Katsiris’ whereabouts is asked to contact police.

Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has contacted the Prince Albert Police Service and a warrant for Katsiris has been issued. CSC is investigating alongside police to find Katsiris as quickly as possible and has given all available information to help police arrest Katsiris.
