High school cross country provincials Saturday in Delisle

Delisle will be surrounded by the top high school cross country runners in the province as the SHSAA championship will be held in the community Saturday.

A total of 325 boys and 281 girls will be competing in the event, which is divided into the midget, junior and senior categories.

The St. Mary Marauders will have 10 runners taking part in the meet with Gabby Charles (midget girls), Jesse Harkness (midget girls), Stacey Hein (senior girls), Steven Krip (junior boys), Seth LeMoal (junior boys), Cadence Monette (midget girls), Samantha Monette (senior girls), Keely O’Brien (senior girls), Hailey Rocheleau (junior girls) and Cole Sanderson (senior boys) representing the school.

LeMoal earned a sixth place result in the midget boys race in Turtleford last year, while Samantha Monette finished in fifth place two years ago in the junior girls race in Delisle.

Jolynn Amyotte (junior girls), Hayden Cable (senior boys), Everett Martens (midget boys), Kaydence Pellerin (midget girls) and Hannah Walker (senior girls) are slated to compete for the Carlton Crusaders.

Walker crossed the finish line in fourth place during the junior girls race in 2016.

Lionel Charles will be the lone runner for the Prince Albert Collegiate Institute Golden Bears in the senior boys event.
