Todd McKeaveney was sentenced to 13 years with credit for time served on Tuesday
Todd McKeaveney will spend 10 years and three months in prison for killing Monica Burns, after pleading guilty to beating her to death while high on cocaine.
Justice A.R. Rothery of the Court of Queen’s Bench sentenced McKeaveney Tuesday to twelve years for manslaughter and one year for committing an indignity to a body, with 33 months credit for time served. McKeaveney disposed of Burns’ body in a forest, partially naked, after rolling her up in a carpet.
He will also face a ten-year weapons ban after his release.
The Crown and the defence agreed on the sentence after several months of negotiation, avoiding the need for a trial. Justice Rothery said the sentance was “fit and just.”
