Renewable Power, the Intelligent choice
Renewal Power, the Intelligent Choice (RPIC) is celebrating Christmas with the gift of sunlight. The group is giving two solar lanterns to refugee families.
Member Nancy Carswell spotted the opportunity in a catalog published by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. She pitched the gift to the group and her motion passed unanimously.
The UN Refugee Agency catalog says the solar lantern is “more than light.” “They provide a sense of safety and security, and also help to improve the comforts of day-to-day living.”
Member Rick Closs adds, “The comforts of day-to-day living is also being promoted through RPIC’s Smarter Science Better Buildings (SSBB).
This program, designed for Grade 7 students in Prince Albert and area schools, introduces students to sustainable housing designs and energy efficiency in the home.
Smarter Science Better Building is scheduled for March 30 to April 9 at Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Prince Albert Campus. SSBB is a collaboration between Saskatchewan Environmental Society, the Western Development Museum and RPIC.”
