Four deaths related to COVID-19 reported Saturday

The province of Saskatchewan reported four deaths related to COVID-19 on Saturday.

Two deaths, one in the Far North West and North West, were reported in the 50 to 59 age group. The two other deaths, in the Regina and South East zones, were reported in the 80-year-old and over age group.

The number of deaths in the province has grown to 336.  

There were 264 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the province on Saturday.  

The North Central zone, which includes Prince Albert, reported 13 new cases.  

North Central 2, which is Prince Albert, has 92 active cases.    

North Central 1, which includes communities such as Christopher Lake, Candle Lake and Meath Park, has 47 active cases and North Central 3 has 52 active cases.    

One case with pending residence information was added to the North Central.
There are currently 207 people in hospital overall in the province. Of the 180 reported as receiving in patient care there are 22 in North Central. Of the 27 people reported as being in intensive care there is one in North Central.  

The province also noted that total hospitalizations (in-patient and ICU) include both infectious and non-infectious COVID-19 cases receiving care.  

The current seven-day average is 226, or 18.4 cases per 100,000 population.    

Of the 25,209 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 2,413 are considered active.    

The recovered number now sits at 22,315 after 145 more recoveries were reported.  

The total numbers of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 25,209 of those 6,618 cases are from the North area (2,619 North West, 2,965 North Central and 1,034 North East).

There 2,412 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered yesterday in Saskatchewan bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 41,254.   

With 11,850 doses having arrived in the province this week and the overages due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received, 101 per cent of the doses received have been administered to date.
There were 920 doses administered in the North Central zone yesterday. Other zones where vaccines were administered  included the Far North Central, Far North East, North West, Saskatoon, Central East and South East.

Back-dated corrections submitted for Feb. 4 have realized an additional 132 doses of vaccine administered in the Central East and South East  zones.

There were 3,149 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Feb. 5.  

As of today there have been 524,222 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan.
