Thanks to the help of Police Service Dog Febee, a fleeing suspect was arrested without officer injury during the evening hours of July 5.

At 10:45 p.m., police received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 3700 Block of Second Avenue West. While on route, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen from Saskatoon.

Officers and a K9 Unit attended,a nd saw the vehicle, parked, with three occupants inside. Police attempted to block the stolen vehicle from escaping, parking patrol cars in front of and behind the vehicle.

The driver, apparently in an attempt to evade police, backed up, ramming a police vehicle.

The male driver got out and attempted to run, ignoring verbal commands. A taser was deployed, but was unsuccessful, as it missed the suspect as he continued to run.

According to a news release, “Police Service Dog Febee was deployed and apprehended the suspect, who was running from police and ignoring police commands.”

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. No officers were injured.

The two female passengers, 21 and 31, both from Prince Albert, were charged with two counts of possession of stolen property.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Prince Albert, was charged with twocounts of possession of stolen property, assault, failing to stop for police, obstruction and breach of court order. All three were due in court on July 6.
