District of Lakeland issues fire ban

The District of Lakeland issued a fire ban at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 24 due to extreme fire hazard conditions.

The ban prohibits the lighting of open air fires and lighting or discharging of fireworks. It also means that all burning permits issued within the municipality are suspended.

CSA-approved propane heating devices such as barbecues are permitted for cooking and heating purposes.

The ban applies to all areas of the District of Lakeland No. 521.
