A 29-year-old man was found deceased in an open field on Thunderchild First Nation on Sunday.

Turtleford RCMP responded to the report shortly after 6 p.m.

Officers secured the scene and requested the Coroner and additional RCMP resources, including the North Battleford Forensic Identification Services for a thorough examination of the area.

The man’s next of kin have been notified of his death. RCMP say his name will not be released because criminality has not been confirmed.

An autopsy is taking place in the coming days, and police continue to investigate.

Thunderchild First Nation is located about two and a half hours west of Prince Albert.
