The second meeting of the year of the STS Chapter was held on Oct 18, 2023 at Murphy’s Restaurant in Melfort with 14 members and STS President Doug Still present.
President Karen Jordan opened the meeting with an introduction of our STS President Doug who then gave us a comprehensive address regarding the activities of the association. He commended our Chapter on its involvement in the association noting that we have 2 members on the provincial executive namely Sue Amundrund and Anna Wehrcamp. He also noted that in the past life memberships were given to George Anderson, John Kyba, Florence Bohn and Eric Streeton and Laverne Morrison.
Val Hopkinson gave a report on the 50th Anniverary Celebration held by our Chapter. The History Book should be completed by the end of the year.
The Parkland Birthday Party will be hosted by our Chapter on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
The Chapter President’s meeting will be held on Thursday,October 26, 2023.
The STS Curling Bonspiel will be held in Yorkton on Nov. 6-8, 2023.
The elections held at the April meeting named Karen Jordan as President, Sue Amundrund as Vice-president and Anna Wehrcamp as secretary-treasurer
Several donations were made to the following groups at the April meeting:
Melfort Ag Society – 250.00
McDowell Foundation –250.00
Lunch was served by the restaurant staff and was enjoyed by all.
The next meeting will be the Christmas Dinner hosted by the Tisdale Chapter. Watch for details in the next newsletter.
Subsequent meetings will occur in February and April 2024.
