Police have laid charges for a dramatic robbery in March, when an 18-year-old man allegedly stabbed, choked and robbed a woman before stealing her car.
The robbery took place in the early morning hours of March 18, 2017. A female victim told police that she was working alone in a business on the 1400 block of 6 Avenue East, when a man in a face mask grabbed her from behind, choked her and stabbed her.
He reportedly made off with $600, as well as the victim’s keys – and then left the scene in her vehicle. She was transported to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say they then launched a “thorough investigation,” involving both detectives and forensic investigators. A police spokesperson said they used forensic evidence the track the suspect down. They arrested him last Friday.
“He was arrested in a local residence,” said police media liaison Alanna Adamko. “There wasn’t any conflict with officers. It was a routine arrest.”
The local man has been charged with a long list of offences, which he will face in court on Monday, including break and enter, robbery, unlawful confinement, aggravated assault, intent to commit an indictable offence by choking, uttering death threats, committing an indictable offence while wearing a face mask, possession of a dangerous weapon and theft of a motor vehicle.
