Youth charged for robbery with firearm

A 17-year-old male is facing charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Friday after threatening the owner of a truck he was trying to steal with a gun.

Police received a distress call in the early hours of Friday morning.

They went to the scene on the 1500 block of River Street around 1:46 a.m.

The victim was leaving his home when he saw the suspect trying to steal his truck.

He had a bandana covering his face.

When the owner of the truck confronted him, the youth pulled out a handgun, threatening the victim to give him money and his cell phone.

The victim managed to go back into his house and call the police while the suspect fled.

K9 Unit Daxa with handler Const. Bighetty tracked down the 17-year-old in a backyard on the 1500 block of River Street.

Patrol and the K9 Unit successfully arrested him.

The accused, from Prince Albert, is charged with using a firearm in a robbery, stealing personal property not exceeding $5000 and intent to commit an offence with his face masked.
