A woman accused of a string of thefts in multiple cities was arrested in Prince Albert for breaking into a gym locker, stealing car keys and making off with a vehicle.
On Friday, June 9, police found a woman passed out in the driver’s seat of a “suspicious vehicle” on the 600 block of 22 Street East. They awoke the woman, who they believed was impaired on drugs. They determined that she had outstanding warrants in Regina, and took her to cells.
She was released with a notice to appear in court, the Prince Albert Police Service said in a press release. But further investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from Pilot Butte, and that it was fitted with a stolen licence plate from Regina. Police also learned that it contained stolen property from victims in multiple cities.
According to police, the crimes took place in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert.
While the woman was free, on the same day she was arrested and released, she allegedly entered a local gym under a stolen identity and obtained a day pass. Police say that she broke into a locker at the gym and used the car keys to steal a vehicle and drive away.
Police put out a request for public assistance to identify the woman from surveillance footage. On Wednesday, June 14 officers found her at a residence on the 3000 Block of 5 Avenue East. They placed her under arrest.
The woman, 33 years old and from Regina, is charged with multiple counts of possessing stolen property, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and auto theft. She is also accused of fraudulently personating another person and committing mischief by willfully damaging property.
