The two members of Ecole Valois School’s 2021 Grad Class were able to have a small, but intimate graduation ceremony to celebrate their successes on June 18.

Graduates Yasmine Ngimbi and Jaelyn Mclennan were able to celebrate with family in the school gym, something principal Catherine Topping said was a nice touch after a challenging year.

“We were able to follow some of the traditional things with graduation in terms of speeches and slide presentations that they were able to do,” Topping said. “It was a little bit smaller and more intimate, but a nice atmosphere.”

There was no Valedictorian, with only two graduates, so Ngimbi and Mclennan both gave speeches instead. Both students thanked their families and the school for all their support.

During the program there were speeches from the school board representative, the director of education, the parent council president, Topping, and their French teacher. They were also presented with the Fransaskois Metis sash.

During the day, each class presented the graduates with a rose and spoke about what they learned that school year.
