Professional wrestlers from around the world to descend on Prince Albert

Professional wrestling fans in Prince Albert will have the opportunity to experience the spectacle first hand when Canadian Wrestling’s Elite’s (CWE) A Nightmare on Elite Street tour comes to Parkland Hall on Aug. 5.

The tour, which spans five provinces and 21 dates in 21 days, features wrestlers from North America and around the world, including, for the first time in Canada, former World Championship Wrestling and National Wrestling Alliance wrestler “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff.

“We’ve been coming to Prince Albert now for about a year and this event we’re bringing is the biggest one we’ve done yet. We’re really excited about it,” said tour organizer Danny Warren.

“When you come to see it live there’s nothing else like it. It’s not like watching it on television. You actually get there and you’re five feet from the ring and being able to interact with the wrestlers vocally and get to see the bodies flying in front of you.”

The Nightmare on Elite Street tour covers larger cities, like Calgary, Winnipeg and Saskatoon, but also smaller locales like Dauphin, Man., Yorkton, Sask. and Golden, B.C. Warren said performing in more intimate settings helps the wrestlers connect with the audience.

“I’ve wrestled in big arenas and when there are a couple thousand people you can’t interact with the same audience the way you can when you’re doing a small hall in one of these towns,” he said.

“You get to personally interact with the wrestlers and they’ll interact right back with you and that’s a big part of the fun and a big part of the atmosphere.”
