Police are investigating a Monday incident where a taxi driver was reportedly threatened with a knife.
According to a police press release, officers spoke to the driver on the East Hill just after midnight. He told them that two people came out of an apartment building, got in his cab and asked him for a ride to Saskatoon.
He told them they’d have to pay fare up front. Soon after, the passenger sitting in the front seat allegedly took out a knife and threatened the driver. The driver fled, police reported, and wasn’t injured in the incident.
As the driver related his story to police, two suspects came out of the very same apartment building. The driver identified them as the people involved in the incident.
Police detained both, and arrested 20-year-old Brianna McDonald of Prince Albert. She is facing charges of uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.
McDonald made her first appearance in Saskatchewan Provincial Court in Prince Albert on Monday. She was released and will return to court on September 13.
