Country music couple Randy and Rai Smith share stories from nearly a decade on the road

Country music duo Randy and Rai Smith are in the midst of their 2017 summer tour, playing shows almost daily, and in some cases twice daily.

But while that hectic schedule might prove taxing for a typical two-piece, the 22-years married Devon, Alta. couple say the journey is one of the most enriching parts of being in a band together.

“We get to see some many different areas and meet so many different people and share our lives and experiences we’ve had in our lives with people,” Randy said.

“There are some things that happen in life that are just too darn funny to not share, and if you didn’t laugh about, it you might break down and cry. So we choose the laughing,” Rai added.

That journey is bringing Randy and Rai to MacDowall’s Hillbilly Homestead on Sunday, June 4. The couple will be performing classic country songs and original compositions, of which some have been garnering air play on country and western Internet radio stations in the United States. They will also tell jokes and stories.
