Saskatchewan reports 94 new COVID-19 cases, 70 recoveries, no deaths in Thursday update

Provincial health officials reported 94 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, along with 70 recoveries and no new deaths.

Healthcare workers administered another 15,402 vaccine doses, including 1,423 in North Central, 225 in the Far North West, 132 in the Far North East, eight in Far North Central and 318 in the North East.

As of Thursday, roughly 69 per cent of Saskatchewan adults have received their first vaccine dose. More than 239,000 residents are fully vaccinated, including 17,820 in North Central.

The final phase of the reopening roadmap will begin three weeks after at least 70 per cent of Saskatchewan adults get their first dose. All remaining public health restrictions will end once at least 70 per cent of residents ages 12 and older get their first dose.

Second dose eligibility is now open to residents age 45 and older who received their first dose on or before May 1. Residents age 12 and older can get their second dose if they received their first dose before April 15.

Saskatchewan will receive another 89,880 doses from Moderna this week. Pfizer is still adjusting their delivery schedule for July. Saskatchewan’s vaccine allotment has yet to be determined.

Residents must follow all public health measures for at least two weeks after getting their second dose.

North Central reported seven new cases on Thursday, along with nine more recoveries. There are now 75 active cases in the region.

Prince Albert reported two new cases. There are now 30 active cases in the area. North Central Zone 1 reported four new cases, bringing their active cases total to 41. North Central Zone 3 reported one new cases. There are now four active cases in the area.

The Far North West reported four new cases and no new recoveries. There are now 33 active cases in the region.

The Far North East reported one new case and three new recoveries. There are now 19 active cases in the region.

Far North Central continues to have no active cases.

The North East reported five new cases and one new recovery. There are now 24 active cases in the region.

As of Thursday, Saskatchewan has 752 active COVID-19 cases. The Saskatoon Zone has the highest number with 192, followed by the Regina Zone with 136 and the North West Zone with 89.

Far North Central has the lowest active cases total with zero, followed by the Far North East with 19, and the South West with 22.

There are 87 patients in hospital with COVID-19, nine of which are in intensive care. None of those ICU patients are in North Central.

Saskatchewan has reported an average of 75 new COVID-19 cases per day over the past seven days.
