Roughly 30 acres of wheat lost in rapidly moving Paddockwood fire

Fire officials say about 30 acres of standing wheat burned in a rapidly moving wildland fire that occurred roughly three kilometres east of Paddockwood.

Members of Lakeland and District Fire Department were called to the scene at around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The fire was already about 40 acres in size, but firefighters were able to extinguish is with the help of heavy equipment.

Fire crews from the Buckland Fire Department also provided assistance, as did a few local farmers and nearby residents.
